This is Shi maasani. Her name is Hazel Delmar Tallman. She is Todichiinii of Shonto, Arizona. She is currently 88 years old. She is well known for both Navajo Rug and Navajo Sashbelt Weaving. She has 8 children, -- grandchildren, and - great-grandchildren. Her brother is Ben Delmar who lives nearby and also lives in Inscription House.
This is Shi Naali Hastiin. His name is anglo name is Nephi Chief but he is also known as Na taani Yazhi. He is originally from Monument Valley, Arizona. His mother is Beverly John. He went to heaven October 11, 1997 and was loved by his family. His occupation was wood carving. He traveled hundreds of miles by foot into the mountains only to find the best wood. He loves his children and grandchildren. When he sees them a spark of light comes to his eyes and a smile appears on his face. "A naali lei!! A naali lei!!," he would say.
This is the Native Ameican Author, Sherman Alexie. He is known for writing many novels, and movie scripts including "Indian Killer" and "Smoke Signals". He came to speak at Stanford and hung out with the Native Community. Here, he is hanging out with me.
